GI Bill® Coding Bootcamp

Skill Distillery is approved to accept the GI Bill®

Tyler's Career Change

Tyler was an infantry team leader in the Marines before he applied to Skill Distillery's coding bootcamp. He was unsatisfied with his work as a police officer, and decided to change his career to programming. Tyler's story is similar to many veterans that use the GI Bill® to change careers.

"After leaving the military, I took a job as a police officer. I worked nights, weekends, and was frequently on call. Not being able to spend time with my family, missing out my son’s sports, birthdays, holidays, etc. was stressful and took its toll on me. I knew there was a better way.

Even though I had no experience, I started looking at careers that would be in demand in the future. I talked to friends who were programmers and wanted to make a change. I went through Skill Distillery’s coding bootcamp and got a job shortly after graduating at HomeAdvisor.

Now, I am really happy with my job. My life is mostly stress free – no nights, holidays or weekend work … work life balance is real.  I enjoy time with my son, and I am more involved with him than ever.  It was an amazing transition, and everything I have been looking for.”

— Tyler P., Skill Distillery Graduate.

Veterans Make Great Programmers

Veterans can make extraordinary programmers. The drive, discipline and attention to detail required for success in the military can be easily adapted to coding. Our coding school is approved to accept VA benefits and we specialize in working with vets to translate their military skill set into civilian jobs. We are among few coding bootcamps that are approved to accept the GI Bill®. Our grads have gone on to work in cyber security, intelligence, roles protecting critical infrastructure, as well as many other firms –  startups and big companies alike – where Java expertise means landing a career, not just a job.
